Bataan Death March 66th Anniversary

Bataan Death March 66th Anniversary
Apr 9, 2008

Brod Manny Goce (Eta '70) came from New Jersey with World War II veterans to celebrate the 66th anniversary of the Bataan Death March. After the battle of Corregidor, Americans under the command of General Wainwright surrendered to the Japanese. American and Filipino soldiers marched to Fort O'Donell in Bataan for prison encampment. Many died. Some survivors are in Washington, DC to lay the wreath for the fallen comrades. After the fall of the Philippines, General Douglas McArthur escaped to Australia to re-group and promised that "I shall return". And he did, and liberated the Philippines from Japan.
